The residents of Jay Peak, Vermont got their first look at the new indoor watermark as their grand opening took place on December 12, 2012. With over 700 in attendance, Bill Stenger and co-owner Arial Quiros turn the ceremonial valve to officially open the doors to Jay Peak’s latest addition to their expansion. The Pump House Indoor Water Park has the requisite trappings to make the softer set happy with wading pools, kid’s play areas, hot tubs and cabanas to rent, but makes its bones with the Raised Jay set, pretty immediately, with their four signature rides; the Double FlowRider, Big Falls Climbing Wall, Big River activity river and La-Chute, the only indoor AquaLoop.
As expected, the Double FlowRider was the centre of attention and had the crowd in amazement while professional flowboarders Nick Nguyen and Sean Silviera flew in from Florida to show off their skills. You and your friends can now get the chance to surf a standing wave in 84 degree water while admiring the snow covered mountain view in the background. Another unique feature is the retracting roof system that lets in the natural light through a translucent structure. The FlowRider has a 19 by 9 foot jumbo TV suspended over the ride for easy viewing from the mezzanine bar. This being the first and only FlowRider in Vermont, it will be sure to attract the crowds, so head down to Jay Peak and test your skills!
