Wave House Zaragoza, opening Fall 2011

Wave House International, (www.wavehouse.com) the San Diego based creator of surfing lifestyle retail, restaurant, and entertainment venues around the globe, announced today its plans to open their first European showcase in Zaragoza, Spain. This facility will play a lead role at the highly anticipated Puerto Venecia retail and leisure destination opening Fall, 2011.

The 206,000 square meter Puerto Venecia retail mall will be Europe’s largest upon completion, with shopping, dining and entertainment venues surrounding a 10,000 square meter canal and lake. Currently under construction, Wave House Zaragoza will offer the surf-like sport of flowboarding on the renowned artificial wave known as the FlowBarrel™, along with multiple restaurants, kava bars, a retail store, and a concert stage that offers live music and special events. The Wave House ™ at Puerto Venecia is a 50/50 outdoor/indoor facility that anchors the sports and leisure section of the Center located opposite the 72,900 square meter fashion mall.

Sport and music are the rejuvenating forces behind the Wave House™ concept. On sport, The FlowBarrel™ attraction is Lochtefeld’s way of bringing perfect surf to the inland masses. This surf machine was developed by Lochtefeld’s Wave Loch, Inc, (www.waveloch.com) and creates a sheet wave of water to break endlessly in perfect form while reaching heights of 10-feet. This phenomena attracts the entire gambit of board sports enthusiasts; including surfers, snowboarders, skate and wakeboarders, who love to perform their favorite moves while Flowriding (the name of the sport that best describes this style of surfing on the sheet wave). The revolutionary attraction is powered by pumps that inject a sheet flow of water at 45 km per hour up a curved padded surface, which forms a curling wave. While there are settings for novices and experts, the spectator experience at the Wave House™ is just as enjoyable, with the bars and restaurants offering perfect views of all the thrills and spills.

As to its musical foundation, Wave House™ has showcased the world’s top musical talent, including: Busta Rhymes, Tiesto, James Blunt, Jack Black, Ziggy Marley, Good Charlotte and Sean Kingston. Wave House™ has also served as the venue for MTV’s Total Request Live. Seasonal weekly concerts featuring top European talent are currently in program for the Zaragoza debut.
