Wednesday, May 18, 2011: FLOW (Flowriding League of the World) Tour Hits Asia
Wave Loch, LLC, the inventor of the FlowRider ® and the sport of flowriding, is pleased to announce the first ever Asian FLOW Series. After 10+ years of FLOW Tour events across the United States and the world, the sport is garnering the attention of flowriding enthusiasts everywhere in the world. With the help of Wave House Sentosa, the Asian FLOW Series consists of competitions at five FlowRider locations – Wave House Sentosa in Singapore on September 3rd, Dreamworld on The Gold Coast, Australia on September 10th, Sunway Lagoon in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on September 17th and Pacific Islands Club in Saipan on September 23rd and 24th. Each venue willl send their best riders to Wave House Sentosa for the Series Finals on October 1st.
While the Asian FLOW Series is held differently than a Tour – which is based on point accumulation throughout its stops – the goal is the same. The riders are competing for those three elusive spots to represent their region in the 2nd annual World Flowriding Championships, which will be held at Wave House Durban, South Africa, starting on October 5th. This is the pinnacle event in the sport of flowriding and is the ultimate goal of professionals competing around the globe. The three spots up for grabs are Expert Men’s, Expert Women’s and Expert Bodyboard. The Asian FLOW Series winners will have major impact on the growth of the sport in Asia and beyond, and we wish all of the competitors the best of luck through these five weeks of competition.
The excitement is growing with every installation of a FlowRider in Asia for future FLOW Tour events. With projects under contract and due to be commissioned in Thailand(2), Bali, China (Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenyang) and in Melbourne Australia, the fast growth of the Asian FLOW Series should continue.
